Check My Account & Renewal of Loans


Checking Account at the Library (BNQ)
How do I check my public library account at the library?

Library members can easily check their loan records, pay renewal charges and over-due fines at the BNQ terminals at our libraries.

Step 1
Hold your membership card or NRIC without blocking the barcode.

Flash the barcode on your card across the scanner.

Step 2
Your loan record and payment charges (if any) will be displayed.
Step 3
Insert your cashcard into the slot to pay for charges listed under 'Payable Here'.
Step 4
Please wait for the charges to be deducted and for your records to be updated. Remember to collect your cashcard.

To clear the screen, flash the barcode on your card across the scanner.


Checking Account Online
How do I check my public library account online?

To check your library account online, select 'Check My Account' from the NLB Online Services drop-down menu at the top right corner of this screen.

  1. You will be led to the 'Check My Account' section.
  2. Click the 'Access Service' button.
  3. Key in the required personal information on the subsequent screen.
  4. Your 'Loan Status' and 'Outstanding Transactions' will be displayed.


'Restricted' Loan Status
What does the term 'Restricted' mean with regard to a member's loan status?

The term 'Restricted' is applied to the following situations:

  1. The user is not a registered library member
  2. The member's loan status has been 'soft blocked' for certain reasons. Member will have to contact the library for clarification.

Renewal Policies
What are the library's renewal policies?

Renewal Period : You can renew your books or magazines only once for another 21 days, and only if they are not already reserved by another member.
Renewal Methods : You can do this in person, by post, by fax or NLB's Check My Account.
Renewal Fee : $0.50 per item for 21 days.
Restriction on Renewal : NLB library policy does not allow renewal of loans:
  1. If the item has been renewed once before
  2. If the item has been reserved by another member
Please check if your books are already overdue, and return the items to avoid incurring additional overdue charges.


Renewing Loans Online
How do I renew loans online?

  1. Select 'Check My Account' from the NLB Online Services drop-down menu at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. You will be led to the 'Check My Account' section.
  3. Key in the required personal information on the subsequent screen.
  4. Your 'Loan Status' and 'Outstanding Transactions' will be displayed.
  5. Click the specific title you would like to renew.
Note that there is a renewal fee of $0.50 (inclusive of 3% GST) per item renewed.
